Yu-Ping Chang is a widely recognized expert in the areas of mental health, addictions care, the integration of behavioral health in primary care, family caregiving, dementia and aging.

She can speak to the media about prescription drug misuse, substance abuse and mental health, particularly among older adults. She can also discuss the mental and physical well-being of family caregivers of people with dementia.

Chang’s research has led to numerous discoveries, including that 90% of people caring for a family member with dementia experience poor sleep quality, and that college education is linked to opioid misuse among baby boomers.

She has been involved in efforts to increase the number of mental health care professionals in Western New York, as well as access to addictions care in underserved areas.
